Codependent Relationships
These services are for women whose love relationships with men have been consistently codependent or destructive. Some women choose relationship partners who are unavailable or abusive and these women have great difficulty ending their addicted relationships even when it is very clear that their needs will never be met. Their own fears of intimacy as well as unresolved childhood issues are major factors. A codependent person is one who has let another person’s
behavior affect him or her, and who is obsessed with controlling that
person’s behavior. The other person might be a child, an adult, a lover, a brother, sister, grandmother, a parent, client or best friend. He or she can be an alcoholic, a drug addict, an emotionally or physically ill person. Whatever the problem the other person has, codependency involves a habitual system of thinking, feeling and behaving towards ourselves and others that can cause pain. Codependent behaviors or habits are self-destructive. We frequently react towards people who are destroying themselves and we may react by learning to destroy ourselves. These habits can lead us into, or keep us in, destructive relationships, or relationships that don’t work. These behaviors can sabotage relationships that may otherwise have worked. These behaviors can prevent us from finding peace and happiness with the most important person in our lives--- ourselves. These behaviors belong to the only person we can change---ourselves.
