Career Evaluation & Counseling
Your career choice is one of the most important
decisions you will have to make in your life, and, unfortunately, is often
made without all the information. Because of the enormous impact it has on
one's quality of life, it is unfortunate that all too many do not pay heed
to the complexity of this decision and seem to go blindly into the
workforce, often finding themselves in unfulfilling jobs. Finding the
right career path that fits you is an essential component to not only
being successful at work but being successful in life.
A review and assessment of these specific and personal attributes help guide us in a counseling process to uncover your true career path. Using Holland's codes and theory along with the Meyer's-Briggs Type Indicator, we develop a list of potential career options, which we begin to research and investigate. With each option, we weave in the new knowledge about yourself to see how well it fits and suits these needs. Economics always plays a role and we have to evaluate these career options within this context. Depending on the outcome of our evaluation and the ultimate decision for your career path, the process of career counseling can lead into new directions. Often times, career counseling can involve resume preparation or a review of graduate schools or more self-reflection. Either way the process is an important one that can help re-direct your life's course into a more fulfilling and satisfying career and more fulfilling and satisfying life.
